What Americans Missed

Many Americans may have missed it because of the Zimmerman trial, but the Government of Egypt was overthrown.

One commentary said the only was Morsi could get on American Television was if he had a comment on the Zimmerman trial.

This weekend in Egypt, over 50 died in violent clashes.  In Chicago this weekend, 77 died by gunshots.  Moral? "Live Free and Die?"

Bad Time to be a Morsi

The son of the President  of Egypt was kicked out of Saudi Arabia.
No Mercy (pun, Morsi is pronounced Mercy in Arabic).
This from a country that gave instant refugee status to Idi Amin.
TIME TO GET OUTTA DODGE!

Barbers work overtime in Egypt

I understand that Monday is the customary day off for barbers in Egypt, especially Cairo.

However, yesterday they all had to work over time, saving lives.

They shaved a record number of beards as no one wants to be mistaken as a member of the Moslem Brotherhood.

EGYPT AGAIN AND CHURCH V. STATE

EGYPT AGAIN AND CHURCH V. STATE

Tharir Square last Night

Women in Egypt are Fed Up -- via Hala Jabar, Egypt

Some people in Amerika may have noticed that there is a bit of a problem in Egypt. Not very many, I grant you, but still there are a few.  Morsi ran as a Social Democrat, then filled his cabinet with Muslem Brotherhood fanatics, much like Bush filled his staff with Jerry Fallwell Liberty University Law School Graduates and John Ashcroft whose main accomplishment was covering the breat of Lady Justice's Statue at the State Department.  (That breast is supposed to reflect the nurturing nature of justice.)

Syria has been more in the news with Obama's constant attacks on Assad and his lionizing of the opposition, calling them “Rebels,” for example. Assad, in Arabic, means “Lion,” BTW. We digress. Anyway, the sort of people we support send out videos of themselves eating the warm hearts of soldiers. There was a report that a Christian Bishop was 'beheaded,' as well. If you see the video, 'beheaded' doesn't quite catch the incident. Actually, the guy's neck was cut away at until the knife made it completely through and the head separated. Therre was no huge AX or guillitine used, just a slow cutting away, grisely enough. Then there were shouts in parise of God.

In earlier times, Assad's father simply attacked and killed 20,000 members of the Muslim Brotherhood and peace came quickly. Nasser, the Egyption revolutionary, hanged 12 of them in the square. In the last 12 hours, their headquarters were taken over and trashed by the citizens of Egypt.

In the U.S., we have a legal separation of church and state which is mainly used as a tax loophole, but at least keeps the state from making us all pray to keep our heads on.

Egypt needs a secular government. Let all the people have their own religions, and there are as many religions as there are people, each one declaring that theirs is the only “real” religion and everyone should follow it. Why not avoid the entire mess of all by determining that government is secular that that's that. Bullets, bombs, and ballets are not in favor of any particular religion, only the people who have and use them.

To its credit, the Army has acted sensibly.  Morsi told it to supress or kill the opposition.  The Army said "Negotiate it within 24 hours or you're out."  The Army doesn't want any bullshit, apparently.

Here's a bit more on what is going on over there:

Sharif Abdel Kouddous: Millions Protesting Morsi Show Egyptian Revolution Still Going Strong

Millions of people have rallied across Egypt calling for the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi one year after his inauguration. With turnout as high as 17 million, it’s Egypt’s largest protests since the 2011 revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak. Clashes on Sunday left at least 16 people dead and nearly 800 injured. Tens of thousands of people remain in Cairo’s Tahrir Square and outside the presidential palace, vowing to stay until Morsi steps down. We go to Cairo to speak with Democracy Now! correspondent Sharif Abdel Kouddous.
