"They arrested Mandella and Jesus too." Yeah, and also Charles Manson RED V. BLUE BY HONEST CHARLIE We have seen a great deal of idiocy on parade recently and it has come time to analyze the concepts of Red and Blue. Of course, it is easy enough to talk about the Democratic arty v. The Republican Party, but what does that distinction mean? What value should we ascribe to it? Well, fortunately, the last decade or so has made it much easier to tell the difference between the two political parties even though we are limited to a two-party system and thus lack quite a few alternatives. Other countries are able to accommodate a variety of affiliations. We, however, like things to be kept simple. Or perhaps the powers that be wish to limit our choices? At any rate, we can now be confident that we can separate the two parties clearly enough so that even the mentally obtuse can notice them. We do not need to search back to the Civil War to exhaust the topic, but it is worth pointing out that Andrew Jackson who permitted slavery to continue, rather like the concept, was Trump's favorite past President (although to be fair it is worth pointing out that he probably did not know much about him but simply was told a few things). After the civil war, the old aristocracy, the Gone With the Wind Crowd, was either dead or the survivors moved North, leaving behind the white trash. In addition, the white trash in the North moved south. It must be pointed out that there are many exceptions in the south. Many literate and sensible people live there and do the best they can with the situation. As with all generalizations (this one included) there are exceptions. We are looking at the situation on the macro scale. We may even institute honorary titles for decent and intelligent people who have to live in those red areas. Now, for awhile they felt comfortable, but the black population continued to grow. The slave owners had limited reading and/or writing to preachers, expecting the message to be servility and "turn the other cheek". Some of them started reading people like Thoreau and his Civil Disobedience (but were careful not to let on that they had done so). The idea kept fermenting and the population kept growing. Eventually, civil rights became an issue and it remains so today. In fact, with the advent of the Donald bigotry, bias, discrimination, and a sense self-interested rage became fashionable again. It is now much easier to tell the difference between the blue and the red. The decline of the Republican party was first started by Richard Nixon, but it took many decades for it to become obvious what it had always stood for. Nixon saw the confusion in the Democratic Party and, in the South, many remained Democrats simply because Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. This continued until an actor, Ronald Reagen, actually called an actor for the first time in decades, of Death Valley Days and 20 Mule Team Borax, was cast as President by corporate America. Unions, workers, and other "leftists" were attacked and taxes reduced. The only union that supported him for election, the air traffic controllers, were all fired when they decided to strike and that was the end of organization. Instituted in their stead what was ludicrously accepted as the Right to Work. These days, the right of women to make decision about their own healthcare is now forbidden by the ridiculous Right to Life. By the 1960s, it was clear that Democrats had become more progressive in politics and the Republicans had become very retrograde. FDR had saved the country with some of his programs, and Republicans have been trying to undo them ever since. It should be pointed out, at the same time, that FDR decided to run in the first place to "save my friends from themselves." Many of these "reds" need what is called Obamacare, but do not wish to use it because Obama was black. Insurance companies lobbied hard to stop it and water it down. I heard from one nurse practitioner in one of these ill conceived states that one of her patients said "I like your program much better than that Obamacare." "But you are on Obamacare, that's what it is." "Ok, but please don't let any of my friends know." At this point, words lose their effect. Obviously, Racist white supremacists were much more comfortable in the Republican party. Lyndon Johnson, a shrewd politician as well, had said words to the effect: "If you can tell the poorest white man that he is better than the richest and most educated black man, he will let you pick his pocket." The same is true today. We need only look at the return federal funds give to the red states as compared to those received by the blue states. The blue states pay into the federal treasury and get anywhere from a nickel to a quarter back. The Red states all come out ahead. So, which states protest the federal government the most? Which ones threaten to succeed? Right, the Red ones. One Governor once made such a threat, Perry of Texas, and the city of Austin threatened a similar action towards Texas if that was done. Willie Nelson is in Austin, happily smoking weed. MOVING ON It is illuminating to examine an example of the Representatives of such states in Congress. We could choose Matt Gaetz who resembles so many male high school students I met in school. There is also Jim Jordan, who does not wear a jacket or a tie (and this is his one positive contribution to the legislative process) and also, in a past life as a Wrestling Coach at a University whose Head Coach of everything had to resign as a result of his committing sexual harassment. As the Wrestling Coach he is reported as usually watching the male wrestlers taking their showers. [It may be worth pointing out here that these wrestlers usually starve themselves before tournaments in order to make a lower weight category and thus become more muscular and developed than most other athletes]. But one representative illustrates everything about a "red" and hence a MAGA proponent is the representative of a demented district in Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Green [hereafter MTG to avoid or own nausea]. MTG is a short, blondish, bulbous, bouncing, boob of the first degree. She started out explaining the wildfires in Southern California as a result of a Jewish geosynchronous satellite, one owned by the Rothchilds. She recently called for a divorce between the Red and Blue states and anyone moving to a Red State would not be eligible to vote for 5 years. The replacement theory is alive in her [you may remember the line of marchers chanting "You will not replace us," but it was not for a days that the other chant, just as prominent, was telecast: "Jews will not replace us." The idea is that those of brown or black skin color do not have the brains for that task so the Jews have to do it. Nobody asked if the Jews had the slightest desire to replace these monkeys. During the state of the union speech, she was one of many of that ilk that booed and screamed when the President said that attacks on Social Security [attacks that actually did take place] by the Republicans were ill founded. They immediately stood up and screamed calling him a liar. He grinned slightly and said "I'm glad you favor the program and I like consensus" or words to that effect. ENOUGH This domestic nonsense will go on so long as people pay attention to the Donald. I threatened once, and now I'm finished. I told everyone that the best cure for the baby was to ignore him, but no, he was good for ratings. Well, a pox on your ratings, or, to quote line two of Volpone, a play by one of Shakespeare's contemporaries, "I fart at thee!" Enough. AbsurdTimes's Newsletter is a reader-supported publication.
