For the first time I can sympathize with the anti-democratic instincts of the Founders, especially the "Super-Majority" rule in the Senate. They were worried, even petrified, of mob rule. And who would the mob be? Well, we need only notice the so-called "Tea-baggers," morons who pay Sarah Palin a 100K to give a speech (to prevent wasteful spending, no doubt) to recognize the mob, the Beck Bumpkins.
Their inspiration, Sarah Palin, is so superficial and materialistic that she quit as Governor and had a book written for her and then made a fortune. She would escape signings whenever she could (so long as the books were sold) and ... no point in proving the obvious.
The point is, you don't want people like this even polluting your television screen, much less influencing the legislative process.
I still think the Rule should be changed, but I certainly have a greater understanding of why it is there and sympathy for those who put it there.
