Some Random Thoughts

The United States has some fairly strange customs, and some observations may be helpful to somebody.  If not, go away.

One observation was from Jennifer Saunders, the writer of a British Sit-Com (although she may have been talking about Britain, I am not sure).  Isn't it strange that you are forbidden to smoke in most places, but you can carry a gun around as you please?

I noticed that the political conventions, especially the Republican one, but I suspect the Democratic one as well, forbids certain items from the grounds.  These include Frisbees, ropes greater that six feet long, swords, fingernail files, and so on, but not guns.  Guns are allowed?  I am not sure whether they can be loaded while the speeches are going on.

Fortunately, there are other options than the convention coverage available, including books.
